On the Track section of Taith360, by default you can track attainments against the Welsh Government provided descriptions of learning (DOLs) found within the statements of what matters (WM) for each area of learning and experience (Area/Areas). Alternatively, you can upload your own customised descriptions of learning to track against. Contact Support if you would like to do this, so that we can guide you through the process.

For more information about how you can get your own assessment framework added to Taith360 please see the following:
Customisable Frameworks

The attainments recorded should be based on your professional judgment, experience and understanding of the descriptions of learning. It is these descriptions which provide guidance on how learners should progress within each statement of what matters as they journey through the continuum of learning.

Steps and Stages

As in the documentation provided by Welsh Government, these descriptions of learning are arranged in five progression steps, which provide reference points for the pace of that progression – they broadly correspond to expectations at ages 5, 8, 11, 14 and 16 and all will be accessible on Track.

The new framework is designed for pupils to deepen their learning over time within each Step, rather than simply progressing through a linear framework as quickly as possible. The steps are also 3 years apart which means that there is a lot of progression that can occur from one Step to another. Therefore, when tracking attainment on Taith360, you can show progress by assigning a stage to each description of learning:

Each stage also has a colour assigned to it. Pupils progress through these stages as you continue tracking attainment on the system. As a result of your tracking, you will notice a coloured stage bar at the top of each description of learning showing the stage your pupil(s) are currently at:

Having All pupils selected will result in the bar giving you an overview of the class. This means that you can easily identify possible areas that need more coverage or those where your class are doing well.

Note: any user can make an assessment for any pupil in any Area, regardless of whether they are assigned to that class.

Recording an Initial Assessment

Before you start tracking ongoing progress for new pupils, it is a good idea to record an initial assessment of what they are capable of to begin with. This will help you establish where you need to take them next in their learning journey

Naturally, it will not be possible to track them against every skill in the curriculum to record your initial assessment, as this would be an insurmountable task. As such, it is a good idea for your school to establish which key skills you would like to assess, before you start this exercise.

Recording the initial assessment on Taith360 is quite straightforward.
Please see Recording an On-Entry Position for more details.

Adding Text Notes and Viewing Attainment History

Viewing attainment history of a pupil for a specific skill allows you to see the journey that pupil has taken to acquire the skill. This journey can be supplemented with text notes, as and when useful. This is easily done as follows:

Select Track from the Menu bar.
Select the Group, Area, Statement of what matters and the pupil you wish to look at.
Click on the Description of Learning you want to look at and ensure that Set Stage is selected.
Type into the box any text notes you wish to record.

Text notes can be added to an individual pupil, a group of pupils in the class, or the whole class
Simply choose all of the pupils that the note is applicable to at Step 2 above, before proceeding through the steps.
Any previously recorded text notes for the selected pupil(s) will appear in the History section.
In the History section you will also see the history of all attainments that have been recorded for the selected pupil. You can see what was recorded, when, and who recorded it.

You can only view attainment history for an individual pupil.

If multiple pupils have been selected, you will only see the history of text notes that have been recorded for that combination of pupils.

Click Save to ensure that any text notes you have recorded are saved.
A pencil icon will appear on the Description of Learning for any pupils the note has been recorded for, to show that notes have been recorded.

Adding Supporting Evidence for your Tracking

If you have evidence stored on a website somewhere, select Add Link. In the pop-up that appears, give the evidence a name and then enter the web address (including https://) where the evidence can be found.
Any evidence you have added, be it uploaded media or links to websites, will be displayed on screen.
Click the close button.
A paper clip icon will appear on the Description of Learning for the pupils the evidence is attached to, to show that there is evidence there.
