Reporting to Parents

Set up your templates (schools generating reports for the first time only)

If you don’t already have templates set up in Taith360, you can tell us how you would like your reports to look. Report layouts might include logos, badges, next steps… all the things you’d expect! Additionally, different parts of the school (e.g. Infants and Juniors) can have different layouts. The Support Team will contact all schools early in the summer term to ask you to tell us how you would like your school’s reports to look. Alternatively, you can send us an example of a report that you have used previously, and we can create a template based on that.

Test your templates

At least a week or so before teachers plan to generate their reports, please test your report templates: output reports for one or two pupils and look carefully at the results, preferably printed out. If you’re using the same templates as last year, watch out for any specific dates — you might have included details of a Parents’ Evening in the reply slip, for example.

If something needs to change, just let us know. Please identify all the changes and list them in an email—include the date teachers plan to generate their reports, so we can make sure they’re ready in good time.

Update Taith360

The attainments recorded on Taith360 form the basis of your reports, so set a deadline for when all tracking should be completed.

Any attainments recorded after the reports are generated will not be included on the reports.
If you make any further updates, you will need to generate the reports again.

You can also add teacher comments and Attitude to Learning gradings that can be pulled through to your reports. See Updating Taith360 For Reports for more details.

Generate your reports

See Generating Reports for a guide on how to generate your reports. You can generate them for an individual pupil, a specified group of pupils, a whole class or a whole cohort, as required.

Personalise your reports

It is important to keep in mind that the reports are a communication from the class teacher to the parent. Whilst Taith360 can make producing them faster and less stressful, teachers must personalise the reports with examples before printing.

It is possible to add comments onto Taith360 that can be pulled into your report template when you generate the reports. This means that you can add these comments over the course of the year, rather than having to write them all from scratch when it comes to the Summer Term.

Alternatively, we can include a section called “Teacher’s Comments”, which can be populated in the generated Word document, but in our experience, it’s much more effective to make small changes throughout the report, rather than adding everything ‘personal’ to one place.

Send the reports to parents

When teachers have finished editing, the reports can be checked, printed, signed and sent out, just as any report would.

Inspectors may ask to see examples of reports to parents. For this reason, we advise that you keep copies of the final reports for your records, as once they have been exported from the system, no copies are held on Taith360.
