Estyn have just announced their new inspection framework for September 2024, which is now streamlined into three inspection areas: Teaching and Learning; Wellbeing, Care, Support and Guidance; Leading and Improving. So, how can Taith360 help you in these areas?

Teaching and Learning

The first two items in this area look at ensuring pupils “learn and make progress” and “develop their knowledge, skills and understanding”. These are key aspects of Taith360. Using the Track page, you can identify at a glance where the pupils in your class are in terms of their acquisition of knowledge and skills, whether that be tracking against the government issued descriptions of learning, or your own custom framework of knowledge and skills uploaded to the system. This then enables teachers to ensure that focussed and targeted learning takes place in the classroom, and that progress happens where it is most needed.

You can then further monitor progress being made on the Pupil and Class Overview pages and use this information to drill down into key areas and skills that require individual focus, on a pupil-by-pupil basis.

Attitude to learning in all aspects of the curriculum, including their Welsh language skills, can be recorded and monitored on Taith360, to ensure that you can be aware of potential issues up front and put measures in place to address these issues early on. You can also add comments against these judgements, which can either be entered purely for teacher reference or can be flagged for inclusion in a report to parents, along with their attainment, at the end of the year.

Wellbeing, Care, Support and Guidance

Taith360 had pupil wellbeing at its core from the very start. It was very important to us to ensure that, when looking at pupil progress, you were also easily able to view attendance and wellbeing information. Attendance is automatically pulled across from the school MIS, and wellbeing is quickly and easily updated on a class or pupil basis.

Naturally, the key to both of these is what you then do with the information. The system allows you to monitor trends in wellbeing for pupils to develop strategies for a positive impact. Attendance is displayed in a way that it can be commented on, so that schools can see a historical record of steps taken to improve pupil attendance and therefore maximise potential.

We also display all contextual groups (such as FSM, ALN, EAL etc) on the Pupil and Class Overview pages, which means that teachers always have up-to-date information about their class make up and can use this to ensure that all pupils have the best chance to access the education they need and are always guided to the correct next steps in their learning journey.

Leading and Improving

From a leadership perspective, Taith360 is set up to enable SLT/SMT members to take a top down view of attainment, progress and planned coverage. This means that it is easy to access a high level understanding of how a class or cohort are performing in any given area, and then drill down to see the detail and identify what needs to be done to ensure that progress is maintained and that pupils are always being pushed to maximise their potential.

This information can also be viewed for specific contextual groups (ALN, FSM etc.) so that you can make sure that they are not being disadvantaged and are making the most out of their education at all times.
